Jordan was an abusive step father to Gerald and Angel, also Jordan Sparks was angels father.
Angel did not like Jordan for he would hit her and play touchy games. At the end of the book, Jordan dies trying to get out of the apartment during the fire. I personally think it was necessary for Jordan to die because he was very abusive to Gerald and Angel. When Jordan went to jail, Gerald and Angels lives were almost back to normal and happy but once he came back he ruined the happy moments for them. If Jordan is out of the picture it will be easy for gerald to protect angel and he won't have to worry about Jordan coming back he could live a happy ever after life once again.
