Speaking Up About Abuse

Many young people live in homes where abuse is a secret, silent pain. Discuss how realistic the lives of Gerald and Angel are portrayed and how they can become a voice for young readers who are afraid to speak out.
Many children who are abused are afraid to speak up. Angel would not have told about her abuse if it wasn't for Gerald. In some homes abuse is a secret. Gerald and Angels experience with abuse is very realistic, many young readers who are abused can relate. It can be inspirational for young children who are afraid to speak out, Gerald and Angel were scared at first as well. Telling about the abuse really helped them and can help many others. Gerald went a while without speaking out but when he finally did he got the help he needed, not only for himself but for Angel and Monique too. Some kids can't do anything about the abuse. Angel and Gerald can be a voice to young kids who have the same problem but aren't sure how to handle it.
